It's been an exciting year so far for Custard & Co in Melbourne!
The cider was flowing all over this beautiful city throughout summer.
A whole heap of new venues have opened and we've been lucky enough to see our juice on many of their drinks lists.
Big thanks to all the Melbourne venue owners & managers for supporting us little guys.
We've had a heap of fun at all sorts of events so far this year including beer garden/sunday sessions at various pubs & bars, festivals such as Fromage A Trois cheese & cider festival, Good Food & Wine Show and our 2 favourite events so far...
The Rare Breed Pork & Cider Lunch at Cumulus inc. and our Good Beer Week event... The Beer Vs Cider Battle Lunch
On Sunday the 22nd of February we joined forces with Cumulus inc. & Glen Eyrie Rare Breed Pork for an epic 5 course pork & cider lunch.
It was an absolutely delightful afternoon. Colin Wood, Casey McDonald & the rest of the Cumulus kitchen team prepared a feast fit for kings with Katy Brown's Glen Eyrie Rare Breed Pork the star of the show! We kicked things off with a Maidenii sweet vermouth & Scrumpy cider punch then moved on to our Vintage Dry apple cider before bringing out the reserve range Apple & Plum cider, "Straw" cider & barrel aged Apple Liquor... We reckon each one matched the food perfectly ;) Ian flew over to chat to everyone about the ciders & Katy Brown was also there to chat about her beautiful pork!
A glorious afternoon was had by all!
On Sunday the 17th of May for Good Beer Week we took on fellow WA brewing legends Feral in a Beer vs Cider Battle Lunch.
It was a glorious sunny afternoon at Loop Roof rooftop bar and our good friends Matt Stone & Jo Barrett cooked a beautiful 4 course lunch featuring some amazing native Australian produce! Each course was matched with both a Feral beer and a Custard & Co cider with each guest voting on which drink they felt matched each dish the best... the loser would be getting a beer or cider shower!
After the completion of course 4 the votes were tallied and damn was it close... so close in fact the overall votes were dead even!
However, with 3 of the 4 courses voted a better match to one of us we had a winner.... and the winner was.... CUSTARD & CO!!!
Josh from Feral willingly excepted his Scrumpy cider shower whilst everyone looked on laughing, cheering and applauding!
And that concluded another fantastic afternoon of amazing food, booze & good times!

We're now heading into winter which means... it's mulled cider time!!!
A heap of our favourite Melbourne venues are already keeping you warm with our hot spiced cider (mulled cider) and there's plenty more about to get on board. Look out for the release of our Custard & Co Mulling Syrup in bottle shops which makes it super easy for all you fine folks to make delicious mulled cider at home!
